The George Inn offers high quality Bed & Breakfast accommodation in 8 en suite letting rooms. We have a wide ranging men, everything from sandwiches to Prime Steaks and of course Hand Batter Fish ‘n’ Chips; taking in items like Ham, Egg and Chips and Warm Seafood Platters to share, a long the way(See Main Menu page for details) . We are known for our local Rainbow Trout bred in Mere Fish Farm. Our Creedy Carver Duck breasts and Slow roasted Belly Pork. We also offer a traditional, plated Sunday Lunch, using joints supplied by our local butchers. Food orders are taken at either side of the bar or by a waitress at your table. .
The George is a great place for a chat and a pint or a meal with bottle of wine. We also keep the full range of Hall & Woodhouse Brewery ales,
The main bar has a warm and cosy log fire for those cold winter nights and large windows facing the clock tower square and the main road though Mere, affording customers the ability to watch the world go by whilst sipping on their ‘pint’.
The right hand-
Just off the main walkway through the pub there is a room that we call The King Charles Room (see our History page for more details as to why this is) which was used as the dining room of the Talbot Hotel as it was known for many years. The George Inn(as it was originally called) uses this as a dining room for larger parties or private functions for up to 30 people. It doesn’t have its own bar but there is full waitress service.
